JBuds – Chimp Mints 18.7% THC
Package Date: May 12th
I didn’t purchase this particular product, but it was gifted to me to try out
So normally I start here with a little bit about the company, but uh…
I can’t really find anything more than a paragraph about their company
JBuds Craft Cannabis is a family-owned and operated micro-cultivator with Indigenous roots to the Canadian Arctic.
I’d never heard of the company until being gifted these buds, not having a web presence is likely hurting brand recognition or loyalty here and is just a weird choice in my mind.
I believe they are being processed by True Leaf Brands, which seem to be more interested in selling me stock in their company than telling me anything about their brands, or processing. I really don’t care about your stock, I care about the actual business – Cannabis or am I missing something about your business model here?
Anyways, it’s time for some Bud Stuff!
These buds came out of an ounce bag, which I believe cost around $100 originally
They weren’t sent in the original packaging but were packaged with a humidity pack and were still spongy and came back to shape out of the vacuum-sealed package.
They are definitely frosty, and would probably pass the look test for most – definitely better than other legal options I’ve seen at $99 knowing however that this product retails on the rec side for a fair amount more, I’d be a little concerned and I’ll discuss why in just a moment.
I do LOVE the dark tones in this bud and I’d love to see another take on this cultivar for comparison
Now for the smoke! This is where we start losing points, regretfully – and partially why I’d like a comparison grown from someone else. The taste was kind of…bad? I really wish I could put my finger on it but it kind of reminded me of a cheap cigar that had a hint of menthol flavouring? As for the burn, it was a peppery gray but did burn pretty evenly. We smoked 2 joints of it to be sure, and while it did get us high, it was pretty superficial and short-lived high, especially for 2 joints which is a little disappointing for 18.7%.
I will say, for my experience with legal ounces, and especially the coveted $99 range
This was a much better outing and I’d love to see what this group can do with things dialed in a little more and maybe when Health Canada realizes many of their rules are actually detrimental to the production/distribution of Cannabis.
