Alright, so – new look and format but same old review for better or worse!
Hopefully, this will improve over time, and I’m still working out the kinks(don’t shame me!)

On the menu, today after an Energy Drink trip is MTL Cannabis Sage & Sour – if you didn’t guess already!

Here’s where I talk about the company and stuff, so who is MTL Cannabis? Let me get them to tell you about themselves

MTL Cannabis was founded by Rich and Mitch, two brothers raised in Montréal with a storied passion for cannabis. They started out owning hydroponic supply stores locally and then branched out into operating multiple Health Canada-licensed ACMPR Designated Grower sites. These entrepreneurial brothers have decades of collective experience growing classic and modern strains with incredible industry-leading yields.

MTL Cannabis is processed by The Green Organic Dutchman, which I’m sure I’ll touch on in more detail at some point
When I first purchased this product, I had no idea about their involvement and it’s not really obvious unless you read the entire package which I’ve started doing more these days!

I’ve purchased this product 4 or 5 times in the past, but never really did a proper “review” or photos.

So hold up, do I still say it? Is it still part of the “review”?

Let’s get ready to…

BUD STUFF

First up – How DRY was it? Honestly – it was decently m-word and plenty of squishes, it reformed when squeezed.

How’d It Get Burned? How’d It Get Burned?

Well – in a bong because we wanted to conserve and that’s the most efficient way to do the Cannabis for sure. I don’t know if white ash really counts in a bong but the ash was definitely white after we were done smoking it. I have seen black ash in a bong so I suppose I just answered my own question, didn’t I? Dope!

How did it Smell? Don’t light a match, because it’s gassy as fuck up in this bitch
It smells like the diesel that birthed it, and that’s probably why I keep coming back as I’m not as familiar (at all) with S.A.G.E. as a cultivar. This smell would knock your grandma’s rocking chair way back and may cause hearing loss.

Overall, it could still be priced better in my opinion – I can still easily purchase 7 grams of Un-licensed Cannabis for $40. I think there’s still a lot of room for improvement – being the only product they produce so far is a double-edged sword when it comes to my opinion on the product.

The product is consistent – every single time, it’s the exact same product in my experience and that has to come from it being the one product they produce.

This is, however, where I also fault them – because I’d also expect it to be better as a result I’ve consistently received small to medium-sized buds in each package, so I’m curious to know what’s happening to those larger buds, are there larger buds? I guess, what I’m saying is it’s a good product, but it’s still not a great product.

If you knock the price down a few more dollars, say $25 Taxes in? then we are looking at a great licensed product. By un-licensed standards, it’s still in the budget section and probably closer to the low end than mid-tiers.

I don’t think that’s entirely this crew’s fault though, I’m sure if you ask the people they grew for under designated grower status you’d probably see quite a different product.

I think Sage & Sour is absolutely a good product but is still at the mercy of Health Canada’s over-regulation of the industry and the fact that a small producer like this has to pay a processor, go through all the red tape that’s likely contributing to the cost of the product to the end consumer.

Overall though, it’s a solid offering and if you are fine with the price it’s better than a lot of the similarly priced (and higher-priced) counter-parts.
